A Word from Our President

Welcome!

We are Lambda Epsilon Mu, the first and only Latinx pre-health honor society at the Johns Hopkins University. On behalf of the honorary members of our prestigious society, I welcome you to our official website.

This organization was created in hopes of providing a community for students interested in both pre-health careers and serving the Latinx community. With our ultimate aim to not only empower, you, our future leader of the clinical and scientific field but also to empower our intermittent cultural and local Latinx community as well. Ten years later, we are now proud to have members pursuing a variety of careers in the healthcare field, including medicine, nursing, public health, and many more. The diversity of passions within our organization creates a safe space for members to learn from each other as they further explore the vast opportunities of the healthcare field and carve their own, unique paths.

Since its inception, LEM has longstanding been one of the most highly respected and esteemed organizations at the Homewood campus. To this day, the impact the organization has on the community is strong. Our commitment to the Johns Hopkins University and Baltimore community has been recognized by our Student Government Association with the Homewood Award in the Spring of 2018.

Moreover, we strive to not only fulfill, but further exemplify our founding tenets of camaraderie, service, and scholarship. Our members are able to serve our community through the variety of programs we offer including STEM LEADS. Additionally, our members are able to receive the academic support and resources they need to achieve excellence. From test banks to a network of professionals, LEM is dedicated to serving its members. Most importantly, LEM serves as a community and support system for its members. Life as a pre-health student is challenging but with the support of our community, LEM members know they have a family to rely on.

Lambda Epsilon Mu prides itself in aiming to improve our community on a local scale, from mentoring local high school students to providing volunteering in local organizations.
